2026 JBU Development Day
Wednesday September 9, 2026 1:00pm - 1:45pm EDT
Limited Capacity seats available
JBU trains crewmembers and business partners around the world, but even training delivered in English does not always translate clearly. Slang, idioms, humor, cultural references, and region-specific expressions can create unintended barriers for global learners.
In this 45-minute session, we will explore practical ways to make training more global-ready, from the words we use in the classroom to the examples and activities we build into our courses.

Participants will learn how to:
Spot language, expressions, and references that may not translate well
Use clear, globally understandable English without losing personality
Build examples and activities that work across cultures
Apply a simple “global-ready” check when developing or facilitating training
Through quick examples and “Would this translate?” activities, participants will practice turning familiar training language into communication that travels.

The goal isn’t to make training less engaging. It’s to make sure everyone gets the message.
